Henley Investment Management has submitted plans to construct a cluster of towers between Salford and Manchester that would provide 3,300 flats in the 130,000 square foot Regent Retail Park site.
On top of developing a new neighborhood comprised of 7 towers and 3 mid-sized buildings the tallest of these towers, standing at 264m tall, would be the third tallest in the UK behind The Shard (310m) and 22 Bishopsgate (278m) after beating out One Canada Square (235m).
This would also make it the tallest building in the Greater Manchester area, beating out Renakers proposed 70-storey skyscraper which was set to stand at 213m tall.
Designed by MattBrook Architects, the Regent Park scheme would include West Union Park at its heart, a 3.5 acre park featuring a children’s play space as well as a village square.
Ian Rickwood, chief executive at Henley Investment Management, said: “Our vision is to create a new green and sustainable neighbourhood for Salford, one that meets the needs of future generations.
“Regent Park will deliver a new local centre for the area, with retail, community and green space at the heart of the plans. Our proposals will bring forward more and enhanced retail space, a new park and village square, along with much needed high-quality homes.
“We’ve undertaken extensive public consultation with the local community, stakeholders and the council and we look forward to continuing to work together.”
Henley is targeting the possession of phase one of this site by 2026 with the landmark development is estimated to cost £1bn to develop..
